Previous tax on Mahindra Thar Roxx Explained:
Earlier the Mahindra Thar Roxx was taxed under a combination of GST + Cess, which significantly increased the overall tax burden on the Mahindra Thar Roxx.
Previously the combined GST + Cess on Mahindra Thar Roxx was 48% as Thar Roxx falls under the category of large SUVs and off-road vehicle. This made the overall tax of the Thar Roxx high which resulted in the high on-road price of the SUV.
After the latest reform by the GST Council, the government introduced a simple two-slab tax system for the automobiles. Which means now Thar Roxx is taxed with only 40% GST rate, which is much lower than the previous 48% tax. Now there is no Cess on Thar Roxx which significantly resulted in lower prices, saving up to 1.3 lakhs, depending on the variant you choose.
