Maruti’s new Creta rival to be called “Maruti Suzuki Escudo”. The Escudo SUV will be positioned below Grand Vitara and above Brezza.
Escudo will be available with petrol, hybrid and CNG powertrain.
It will be sold via Arena outlets. It will be most expensive Arena model to be sold.
Escudo will compete against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Honda Elevate.
Maruti Suzuki Escudo powertrain options :
Escudo is expected to come with three powertrain options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 103 HP, a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol-hybrid engine delivering 116 HP, and an 88 HP CNG powertrain. Both manual and automatic transmission options are likely to be offered. However, these details are based on expectations, as the official powertrain options have not yet been disclosed by the brand.
Maruti Suzuki Escudo to be sold via Arena dealerships :
Maruti Suzuki Escudo will be sold via Arena outlets. It will make Escudo the most expensive Arena model to be on sale. At present Grand Vitara is sold through premium Nexa dealership, Escudo being positioned below Grand Vitara will be sold only through Arena dealerships.
Maruti Suzuki Escudo launch date and price :
Maruti’s Creta rival, the Escudo, is set to launch on September 3. Positioned below the Grand Vitara and above Brezza in Maruti’s SUV lineup, the Escudo is expected to be priced around the Grand Vitara. The Grand Vitara currently ranges between ₹11.42 lakh and ₹20.68 lakh, and the Escudo is likely to fall within a similar price bracket. The Escudo will compete not only with the Hyundai Creta and other rivals in the segment but also indirectly with the Grand Vitara itself. Therefore, Maruti will need to price it strategically to avoid disturbing the sales of the Grand Vitara.
