Mahindra has announced GST benefits for its SUV range. Now you can get GST benefits on your favourite Mahindra SUV up to 1.5 Lakhs. The announcement follows 56th GST Council meeting, led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, where the government announced a new streamlined two-slab tax system for the automobile sector.

The change is effective from September 6th 2025 and is expected to benefit customers through reduced overall costs, especially on smaller models.

What is new tax system?
The new GST rates was introduced for the automobiles in the 56th GST Council meeting, led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, which introduced a new two-slab tax system for the vehicles.
Earlier System :
Earlier multiple GST rates were applied for different types of vehicles ranging from 18%, 28%, 43% and 50% depending on the type, size, engine capacity and other factors. It created complexity for both manufacturers and costumers due to varying GST rates.
New two-slab system :
18% GST: Applies for small cars and passenger vehicles (typically less than 4000MM in length and below 1500CC).
40% GST: Applies to larger vehicles (larger than 4000MM and 1500CC). Generally large SUVs and bigger Sedans.
The new system simplify the tax system which makes it easier for the customers to understand.
